Duwamish Alive! Earth Day Festival and Work Party
April 18, 2009
On Saturday April 18th, we helped along the Duwamish Green Belt at Cooper Elementary School removing alien plants from Seattle’s largest urban forest, allowing its natural inhabitants to flourish. We worked hand in hand with The Nature Consortium and Earth Corps, then enjoyed an Earth Day Picnic with about 500 other volunteers at the school later in the day.
The Earth Day Festival and Work Party is an annual event the Duwamish Alive! community hosts. Around a thousand people come to 12 different restoration sites along the Duwamish river, rain or shine, to improve this important habitat for the river’s fish and wildlife. We have participated for two years running, and we hope you’ll join us next year!
